Cable Kick Down: 82 only Firebird / TA / Camaro Auto CFI - 37.25" / 94 cm
This is the 1982 ONLY.. .Camaro & Firebird auto trans kick down cable assembly for the V8 with the "7" code engine.. meaning it originally has the cross fire injection. Also known as a Detent Cable - 37.25 inches.
How to Adjust the cable:
There should be an access hole on a (most likely) black bracket holding the cable. & This is how you adjust your “kick down” WITH YOUR CAR OFF pull your throttle all the way back (Like flooring it) Stick a screw driver into that “Access hole” on the bracket.
Apply enough pressure for the cable to release. That will release the tension on the kick down cable - your shifting will be MUCH smoother & more on time as long as the gearbox solenoid and the rest of it are in good order.
