Heater Core: 70-81 Camaro / Firebird TA WITH A/Cond. ALLOY
This new alloy heater core is designed for second-generation Camaro and Firebird Trans Am models equipped with factory air conditioning or originally fitted with AC. Note that multiple quality levels exist on the US market; we offer one of the highest-quality alloy cores available, known for its reliability. While less expensive options exist at about half the price, we typically do not stock them and do not provide warranties for those alternatives.
THERE IS STILL SOME COPPER ONES if wanted but cost about 25% more.
The image shown is accurate. Typically, this heater core remains unchanged during right-hand drive conversions. If modifications are necessary, they usually involve only a slight bend in the hose outlet, which often does not require redoing.
Exercise extreme caution when bending this heater core to prevent cracking the solder joints, as it is not arc welded. Although repairs can be made if damage occurs, they are complex and time-consuming, so it’s advisable to avoid repeating the process.
Exercise great care when handling this heater core to prevent solder cracks and leaks. It is advisable to test the unit by running water through it before installation to ensure there are no leaks.
Since about 2019, heater cores have transitioned from copper to alloy construction, so you may find either material with little difference in performance. Additionally, right-hand drive conversions have introduced part variations long before current ownership or repairs, so please refer to the image below for guidance.
