Starter Motor: Pontiac V8 64-79 & Olds 403 (GM)
This remanufactured GM/AC Delco starter motor is engineered for Olds 403 and Pontiac V8 engines, including the 326, 250, 389, 400 Pontiac, 421, 428, 455, and the 1977-79 Olds 403 6.6L models. It fits engines with left-side starter mounts (driver’s side in the US) and uses the standard 9-tooth gear specific to these engines.
Please note, a minimum freight charge of $36 + depending on where its to go to etc.. applies - with additional costs for NT and Regional WA. This fee covers the heavy weight of starter motors and varying transport expenses across Australia. If you collect from our warehouse, freight charges do not apply.
Option: tick if you have a 403 Olds.. ie.. starter is on the LHS.. Fuel pump is on the RHS..
or tick if you have a Pontiac V8.. ie starter is on the LHS & so is the fuel pump.
We have both and will give you the right one.
Please note that Pontiac V8 and Olds V8 starters may require shims to ensure proper alignment with the flex plate. Misalignment can cause snapped heads, a detail often not mentioned by manufacturers and left to the installer’s expertise. The number and thickness of shims needed depend on the fitter’s precision and experience. In Australia, automotive shims can be found at Masters Hardware stores, typically located in the nuts and bolts section—check their pull-out drawers for these often overlooked but essential components.

- Pontiac & Olds.. both have the starter motor is on the LHS..
- Fuel pump for the OLDS 403 is on the RHS (US passenger side) for all 403 Olds engines...
- Fuel pump on the Pontiac V8.. is on the LHS.. then its a Pontiac engine ok....! Pontiac Starters are on the LHS also
- Chevy's .. have BOTH the starter AND Fuel pump on the ..RHS. the USA Passenger side.
