1982 saw the emergence of the brand new "3rd Gen F Body" Camaro design.. one that capture the public's imagination.. and the sales that follow were huge. Over 170,000 Camaros alone were sold in the USA.. many more made it to foreign lands.
For the first time.. you could buy a 4 cylinder version.. as 12% of sales were.. a strong V6 2.8lt saw just over a 1/3rd of all production installed.. and as tradition has it.. a bit over 50% were the 5ltr V8. Some special options kept the performance minded buyers happy like the functional hood scoops on the lightweight fibreglass hood.. Turbo 350 Auto with the Cross Fire Injection.
Additionally for 1982.. approx 6000 collectors made welcome the two toned "1982 Indianapolis 500" special edition. While power was not part of the mix .. the first year of the 3rd was a hit.
