These are New Ceramic Heavy Duty Front Disc pads that are for more abnormal use or for people with very high HP engines and need a very Hi performance disc pad.
These are not required for everyday cruisers.. Original material is organic or standard.. but that usually also leaves a lot to be desired.. most ...probably 95% of owners/cruisers would be best to use a Semi-Metalic pad (# PW10081)
Here are the basics on the THREE main compound types..
- Standard.. which are normally the softest, cheapest normally and wear out faster and are normally attributed to dust noticed more from them, normally less wear of disc rotors.
- Semi - Metallics... the meduim to upper range needs for good highway/city/ heavier driving.
- Ceramic Pads.. usually outperform the others by a lot BUT are harder.. better suited to heavy industry / or higher temperature motor sports needs. They are cleaner as they tend to wear LESS but wear out disc rotors faster.
-
"Attributes for Ceremic Pads.."
* They're quieter than semi-metallic pads
* They create less dust, keeping your wheels cleaner, BUT DO WEAR the disc rotor more.
* They last longer than semi-metallics
Against...for Ceremic Pads.
* They're not recommended for high speed racing or heavy-duty towing - they need to be hot to perform normally at their peak.
-
* They're generally more expensive than comparable metallic pads
* They don't work as well as Metallics in cold or ice.. or shorter trips.
* They generally cause more wear to brake rotors than metallics
Application:
- 69-81 models Firebirds, Trans Am, Camaro, GTO/LeMans, Chevelle, 69-77 Nova, Many Cadillac's, Monte Carlo's, Impala.
- Use these pads... for GM front disc brakes...
- Semi-metallic USA produced front disc pads for the original single piston caliper.
- As these suit all USA GM Single piston calipers.. if your car has single pistons it may very well be these.
