    Brand new reproduction Timing Cover housing KIT for the Pontiac V8 1969 to 81 V8 using the (count them if unsure) 11 bolt Pontiac water pump.. that means "11 bolts" bolt the  water pump to the timing cover. If you have a Pontiac from 69-76.. that's ALL you will have .. in 77 they also came out with Chevy & Olds engines.. just make sure you don't have one of them.. otherwise this is it.

   Also able to be used on  any Pontiac Block from 64 -68 in place of the "8 Bolt"... but you need to replace the pulleys on the water pump and align your belts again...(contact us for those).

    New Timing cover .. correct die cast housing with all the visual characteristics or the originals too.

OVER HEATING 64-79 PONTIAC V8 ENGINES:SOME owners have problems with pontiac V8 Blocks overheating.. and blame it on radiators, deflectors, thermostates, clutch or thermo fans, or fan blades, or water pumps or restrictive airflow etc etc.. Some of that may be contributing.. but the BIGGEST problem relates to the gap.. between the water pump impeller, be it cast or tin.. and THIS part.. the water pump plate..

Different pumps have very deffinate different gaps between the plate & the impeller.. and you need to "tune it in" for want of better words..

Try this as part of changing the plate or pump process......

(1) Take the pump & put it upside down on the bench (obviously you have to take the pump off) put the gasket on it then the divider plate.

(2) Measure the clearance between the pump side surface of the plate and the edge of the vanes. This should be made as close as possible. Use a hammer to carefully bend the circumference of the hole of the divider plate towards the vanes.

(3) The suction of the pump is through the center hole, and the pressure side is around the tips of the vanes. Too much of a gap between the plate and the vanes and the pump tends to draw coolant from the pressure side instead of from the center hole (which is plumbed to the radiator and the hot side of the block).

That's why minimizing this leakage path improves flow thru the engine and thru the radiator (when the thermostat is open).
