Disc Pads: Front 89-92 F With ALLOY TWIN PISTON Calipers
Reviews

If you have a GTA or Turbo Trans Am  OR.. 89-92 Camaro with the Performance Package  Larger Factory Calipers and rotors.. then this is the front pad set you need, semi metallic.

The type of caliper you would have is shown below.. its ALLOY ..NOT Cast Iron.. its TWIN piston .. not single..

A note below here from a US press release at the time ..  is talking about the 1989 Turbo Trans Am.. a special V6 Turbo Pace car .. and the same can be said for the limited edition 1LE brak system on SOME  89-92's.

"The Turbo TA came with the rare 1LE racing brake package, which upgrades the front discs to 12 inch police rotors, Corvette twin piston aluminum calipers and semi-metallic pads. These brakes are virtually fade proof, and were installed to legalize the 1LE package for Firehawk endurance racing. The rear discs were also increased to 12 inches in 1989 and use Corvette single piston calipers. All of the brakes on the car are of a quick change design, and pads can actually be changed in 30 seconds."

Here are the basics on the THREE main compound types..

  •   Standard.. which are normally the softest, cheapest normally and wear out faster and are normally attributed to dust noticed more from them, normally less wear of disc rotors.
  • Semi - Metallics... the meduim to upper range needs for good highway/city/ heavier driving.
  • Ceramic Pads.. usually outperform the others by a lot BUT are harder.. better suited to heavy industry / or higher temperature motor sports needs. They are cleaner as they tend to wear LESS but wear out disc rotors faster.
