Too Expensive and when not fitted and maintained slips and breaks things.. so not supplying them anymore. This is a compact US GM 3.75:1 gear Reduction starter.. the premium General Motors "Performance Parts" Hi Torque Starter for the Chevy Small Block range.. 59 early 90's V8 & Some V6 (contact us for specific V6 fitmenta).
The Hi Torque starter design also allows for additional tilt as needed for different hedders or custom exhaust set up, especially on RHD modified cars.
Fits:
DUE TO FAULTS BLAMED ON VARIOUS HI TORQUE STARTERS.. as a performance part... we no longer supply them with ANY warranty at all... none although..but this is the best Hi Torque starter we have found.
The quality and difference to a typical cheap verion HTS is apparent when you compare the two. If you do buy one from whereever.... make sure its covered by a return freight warranty (ie Ebay chinese one is then pretty useless).. . .make sure you shim and recheck the shims for perfect alignment or risk stripping the flexplate or flywheel teeth, then recheck it.. again & Again or the person fitting it every week for months..... The Starters cock offset and bugger it .. it's not the starter.. but the sudden torque and twisting that mainly stuffs them, they need to be checked and checked and checked again... they are NOT Set and forget.
There's a LOT .. HEAPS of cheaper units then this & like many suppliers.. we have had bad experiences with cheap Chinese copies. Back then... each carried a 14 day warranty only & warranty but most did not make 14 days. Subject to inspection of failed unit & you could see where they cocked sideways.
If your lucky these tend to have a reasonable shelf life.. are 3hp rated. These starters are listed to work 12:1 or higher compression SB or BB Chev engines.
If you want a known quality then this is it... if you want a cheap one to get you underway for a while check ebay etc.....
NOTE: MOST ALL.. MOST ALL.. V8 starters need shims.. check alignment of your flexplate as these have instances of snaping heads & chewing out flexplate teeth if not properly aligned. GET AN EXPERT TO FIT THIS.. not your mate down the road.. who can change a tyre etc.. dont' both buying one from ANYBODY.. unless your going to do this RIGHT.. its pointless. The manufacturers don't say this as its left to the fitter to know. .but just how many shims and thickness will depend on the accuracy of the fitter & their experience.
