The genuine unit HAS been discontinued by GM in the USA during 2007....(GM # 25036553). Remaining stocks available at a realistic price untill sold out then the aftermarket senders take over 100%.

A word of caution.. this is only a small part..and can be brought in by post from the USA very easily.. but just be carefull where you are to buy it IF they say its a genuine part.. or "made by a authorised supplier".. as its all in the wording. ie .. Who'se the "authorised orderer"... the reseller.??? Just .. like also of things in US advertising people fall for.. don't be conned.
