This 7 pin (5 + 2) Distributor Module is located at the bottom of the distributor plate and controls the flow of current through the distributor.
IT HAS 7 pins (not 4) as shown.. visible from the side of the lower edge of the dissy cap.
Commonly found on 82-92 GM vehicles such as Camaro Firebird TA & Corvette and some lite commercials. You need to check yours before ordering.
THIS IS A TYPICAL AFTERMARKET NON GM CHEAPER BRAND of the same part, good for a spare etc.
ALWAYS have one of these in the console sealed up.. as a spare.. ALWAYS.. READ BELOW PLEASE
- Common situation when it breaks is.... THE CAR STOPS.. and will not start again.. it will turn over and over till you have a flat battery.. but dispite the fact you'll have plenty of fuel.. it's just like a Kill Switch.. and you will be towed.. OR if you have prepared.. you will have another in the glovebox as a spare, a GM on or an aftermarket cheap one..better then none, road service people or your mechanically skilled person can change it with common siple tools on the spot.
- If touring or just because you care, have a spare carried in the console or somewhere.. more important then a radiator hose or fan belt these days etc..
- If fitting it yourself they come with a tiny bit of insulation gel.. smear it onto the metal backing of the module before fitting it.
