This is for the Camaro and Firebird TA with the electric auto pull down hatch mechanism.. now discontinued by GM and getting on in years many are continuing to fail.. just due to age.
When fitting them up.. get some maybe super fine sand paper and PRE FIT the slide so they go into the track and slide freely...get some white grease (or lithiumn grease etc) and coat it so the this will act as it should and slide without any resistance.
We went to the expense back around 2010 to tool up and create an injection molded.. hardened plastic slide runner set .. to start with.. .. something you can not buy from GM. These "SLIDES" were used locally and exported ever since..... but this kit is the next leg.
Usually the "slide" would oxidise and cock sideways... the slide hosts the two halves of the electric mechanism.
- Due to the metal halves of the hatch pull down mechanism being worn or distored.. you will need to make fine adjustments to the slides with a fine file or emery paper to ensure they slide freely. We have been repairing these for years.. and seems no two hatch slide tracks wear perfectly the same.
- When they crock.. usually the gear strip's away.. and sometimes the gear housing cracks.. We supply the GM gear in this kit also....... .if you need the clear or black plastic housing.. option below for it.
The other parts, the self locking washer nut and the correct slide grease.. these are service parts we put together to help with the reassembly of the hatch assembly pull down .. which is to a degree simple enough.
